Welcome to Worcester LGBT Elder Network's web page!

In 2009 Central Massachusetts Agency on Aging, Elder Services of Worcester, Inc, and the Worcester Senior Center got together and formed WLEN (Worcester LGBT Elder Network) to address the needs of aging lesbian, gay men, bisexual, and transgender people. We hope to provide a source of information and referral for LGBT elders and their caregivers.

Why an LGBT elder network?

The personal histories of today's older LGBT individuals often require them to receive services appropriate to their needs. Tomorrow's older LGBT could very well swamp aging services because of their numbers and because they are accustomed to receiving respect for their individual situations. Read more ...

About WLEN

WLEN is a network of LGBT individuals and their friends and allies, as well as providers and administrators of aging services and long-term care professionals. The structure is minimal. WLEN has one part-time employee who works for Elder Services of Worcester Area. Regular events include a monthly social for LGBT people 50 and over on the first Sunday of the month and the Rainbow Lunch Club for people 60+ on the second Wednesday of every month. WLEN's consumers have identified these areas of interest to older LGBT adults: health resources, education and training, outreach, and social events. The executive directors of the local founding agencies serve as an advisory board. To see the calendar of events Click Here.
