Research and Planning Associate |
| Reports to: |
Director of Planning |
| Function: |
Directed or independent study of specific issues affecting elders in Central Massachusetts as well as their families and caregivers. Research projects can be customized to student interests and might include Needs Assessment Surveys or other data collection related to:
- caregivers (This includes younger elders caring for parents or older relatives as well as younger adults caring for elderly relatives).
- specific ethnic/racial groups.
- grandparents raising grandchildren.
- housing issues.
- other issues related to the needs of elders in Central Massachusetts.
Program evaluation projects might include:
- financial management programs.
- support group programs.
- home repair programs.
In addition, we have needs assessment survey results from 1993, 1997 and 2001 (part of a statewide survey) that might be used for comparison purposes by students.

Aging network personnel, seniors, other appropriate staff. |
Qualifications:
- Excellent Communication skills; presentation skills helpful.
- Technical skills helpful (e.g., computer statistical knowledge, etc.)
- Sufficient hearing to understand incoming callers.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Detail oriented
- Organized
- Sufficient mobility to visit various agencies in planning and service area.
- Sufficient manual dexterity to input data via PC keyboard
- Ability to sit for long periods of time while performing tasks
- Ability to grasp and lift materials (brochures/books) weighing up to 20 pounds
