Information and Referral
Intern/Work Study Description

Title: SeniorConnection Associate
Reports to: Director of Information & Referral Services, SeniorConnection
Function: To provide seniors, caregivers and professionals guidance and advocacy through the Central Massachusetts aging and caregiver networks.

Potential Duties:

Collaborate with the SeniorConnection staff to:

  1. Help consumers to identify their individual need(s). Research and present appropriate available community resource(s) to meet said need(s).
  2. Update existing and organize new resources on SeniorConnection.org, Connection for Caregivers and in the CMAA Resource Library.
  3. Research Internet & and print resources and gather information pertinent to Central Massachusetts seniors and their caregivers.
  4. Raise community awareness of SeniorConnection by distributing educational materials throughout the 61 town/city service area.
*****Work plans will be individualized in order to best accommodate each student's academic requirements, skills, interests and time availability as well as the agency's existing needs.
Working Relationships:
Internal: Director of Information and Referral, SeniorConnection, Coordinator of Information and Referral, Information and Referral Representative
External: Outside community agency personnel, elder service organization personnel.
Qualifications:
  • Excellent Communication skills to communicate effectively with staff and the public.
  • Ability to communicate via telephone with a caller while accessing information from a personal computer.
  • Sufficient hearing to understand incoming callers.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Detail oriented
  • Organized
  • Basic computer skills. Specific training provided.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to input data via PC keyboard
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time while performing tasks
  • Ability to grasp and lift materials (brochures/books) weighing up to 20 pounds
