| Function: |
Assist the Administrator of the Area Agency on Aging. Analyze and report on issues and policies to better understand and explain the needs of senior citizens in Central Massachusetts, assist in advocacy efforts and community development projects. |
|
Duties:
- Under the direction of supervisor, identify policy issues that affect seniors within the planning and service area.
- Analyze issues, prepare reports for Board of Directors and that may be used in communications with legislators at State and Federal levels.
- Network with other agencies in the aging network, particularly Councils on Aging and Senior Centers, Aging Services Access Points, Executive Office of Elder Affairs (Boston) and other providers for the purpose of assisting in development and coordination of services offered to seniors.

Qualifications:
- Effective communications skills; presentation skills helpful
- Technical skills helpful (e.g., computer, statistical knowledge, etc.)
- Sufficient hearing to understand vocalizations of staff and clients
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Detail oriented
- Organized
- Sufficient manual dexterity to input data via PC keyboard
- Sufficient mobility to visit various agencies in planning and service area
- Ability to sit for long periods of time while performing tasks
- Ability to grasp and lift materials (brochures/books) weighing up to 20 pounds
