Advisory Councils are mandated by the Older Americans Act and are a direct means for older persons to have their interests represented in local Area Agency's on Aging activities. The Council is a voluntary group of citizens and professional service providers who provide information, guidance, advice, and support to the Agency on Aging to plan, develop, coordinate and administer services to older people and their caregivers. They serve as a critical linkage between the Agency on Aging and the local elderly community. Image of a board of people watching a person give a presentation on an easel.
